The Nike Dunk Low have a common characteristic, apart from being made of leather and having the habit of playing with bright colours: they all sell out quickly.
It wasn't always like this, of course. The Nike Dunk Low has experienced a renaissance in the last 2 years and it has been thanks to a man called Virgil Abloh
.Born in the 80s, the Nike Dunk Low was launched as a basketball shoe looking for the middle ground between the Air Jordan 1 and the Nike Terminator. And from minute one they sported the colourful designs we know them by today: the first release was a series of 12 units in the colours of the most important basketball schools in the United States.
Their success came in the mid-80s when they were popularised by The Mix Crew and revived in the late 90s when skateboarders adopted them as a favourite shoe. But then they took a back seat for years.
Their third return to the podium began in 2019, when Virgil Abloh chose the Nike Dunk Low for a collaboration. As a result, 2020 and so far in 2021 have seen model after model released and one after another sold out in minutes. This is partly thanks to the sales model: very few units are released and the sale is raffled off to everyone who signs up.
You can still get your hands on the Nike Dunk Low at THE GYPSY BULLDOG. Don't think too much about it.
